Resorcinol derivatives from Ardisia maculosa.[Pubmed: 17885843]
Besides a series of known sterols and triterpenoids, a new resorcinol (1) and a known resorcinol (2) have been isolated from ethanol extract of Ardisia maculosa for the first time.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
The structures of these resorcinol derivatives were elucidated as 2-methyl-5-(Z-heptadec-8-enyl) resorcinol and 5-(Z-heptadec-8-enyl) resorcinol by HRESI-MS, NMR ((1)H, (13)C, HSQC, HMBC) experiments. In our in vitro assay, compounds 1 and 2 showed no antimicrobial activities, however, compound 2 exhibited cytotoxity activity against human cancer cell line with GI(50) value of 2.14 x 10(- 4) mmol/ml.

Studies on chemical constituents of the rhizome of Ardisia corymbifera Mez var.tuberfera C.Chen[Reference: WebLink]
To investigate the chemical constituents and find the antitumor constituents of Ardisia corymbifera Mez var.tuberfera C.Chen.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
The rhizome of Ardisia corymbifera Mez var.tuberfera C.Chen were extracted with 80% ethanol and separated by silica gel,RP-18,Sephadex LH-20.These compounds were indetified by MS and NMR analysis. Six compounds including triacontanol(Ⅰ),α-spinasterol(Ⅱ),ardisin E(Ⅲ),5-(Z-heptadec-8-enyl) resorcinol(Ⅳ),maltose(Ⅴ) and sucrose(Ⅵ) were isolated and identified.
    CONCLUSIONS:
Compounds Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ and Ⅵ are isolated from the plant for the first time.
