Studies on the constituents of Murraya paniculata (L) Jack.[Reference:
WebLink]
Six coumarins were isolated from the leaves of Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack. (Rutaceae) grown in Guangdong. Three of the coumarins are new.
METHODS AND RESULTS:
On the basis of spectroscopic (UV, IR, NMR and MS) analysis and chemical methods Isomexoticin, murpanidin and murpanicin were identified as (-) 5,7-dimethoxy-8-(2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylbutyl) coumarin (Ⅰ), (+) 7-methoxy-8-(1,2-dihydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl) coumarin (Ⅲ) and 7-methoxy-8-(1-ethoxy-2-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-butenyl) coumarin (Ⅳ), respectively. In addition, three known coumarins, murragatin (Ⅱ), murralongin (Ⅴ) and 5,7-dimethoxy-8-(3-methyl-2-keto-butyl) coumarin (Ⅵ), were also obtained. The last compound was isolated for the first time from this plant.
