The isolation of lycorine, pseudolycorine, galanthamine, haemanthamine, tazettine, pretazettine and the new alkaloid narcisine from Narcissustazetta bulbs.
An inhibitor was isolated from the secreted mucilage of Narcissustazetta L. bulbs. Based on X-ray analysis, the inhibitor was identified as narciclasine (NCS), an Amaryllidaceae alkaloid. NCS inhibited seed germination and seedling growth of rice and Chinese cabbage in a dose-dependent manner.
