Biochanin A, an O-methylated natural isoflavonoid classified as phytoestrogen, is a naturally occurring fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitor, which inhibits FAAH with IC50s of 1.8, 1.4 and 2.4 μM for mouse, rat, and human FAAH, respectively. Biochanin A has hypoglycemic, antilipemic,anti-tumorigenesis, anti-oxidation, and anti-inflammatory properties, it also has neuroprotective effects in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion by inhibiting inflammatory response and the inactivation of p38 signaling pathway. Biochanin A could inhibit Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus efflux system through reducing pathogen' s expression of nor A and norA protein.

Bisabolangelone has anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and antioxidant activities, it inhibits dendritic cell functions by blocking MAPK and NF-κB signaling. Bisabolangelone has antimelanogenic activity, the cAMP-binding site of PKA as a putative target ameliorating melanocyte-specific hyperpigmented disorder. Bisabolangelone has anti-ulcer activity, it is possible that bisabolangelone inhibited the activity of the H(+)/K(+)-ATPase, then reducing the secretion of H(+). It also inhibits the activity of 5alpha-reductase type I in LNCaP cells (IC50 = 11.6 microg/ml).

Bisdemethoxycurcumin is a natural derivative of curcumin with antiulcer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities, it suppresses MCF-7 cells proliferation by inducing ROS accumulation and modulating senescence-related pathways. Bisdemethoxycurcumin induces apoptosis in activated HSCs, but not in hepatocytes, by impairing cellular energetics and causing a downregulation of cytoprotective proteins, likely through a mechanism that involves CBR2.
