Cyclic dipeptides as new cell cycle inhibitors produced by Streptomyces flavoretus 18522[Reference: WebLink]
To find the cell cycle inhibitors from the metabolites of Streptomyces flavoretus 18522.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
Activity-guided isolation was performed on the chloroform extract of the fermentation broth and mycelia of Streptomyces flavoretus 18522 by using ts FT210 cells.Compounds were isolated through various chromatoghraphic methods and elucidated by spectroscopic means. The flow cytometry was used to evaluate the cell cycle inhibiting activity of the fractions and compounds. Six cyclic dipeptides were obtained and identified as cyclo(Ala-Leu)(1),Cyclo(Ile-Ala) (2),cyclo(Ala-Val)(3),cyclo(Phe-Leu)(4),cyclo(Ala-Pro)(5) and cyclo(Phe-Val)(6).
    CONCLUSIONS:
Compounds 1-6 are reported as new cell cycle inhibitors for the first time.

Chemical Constituents of the Seeds of Euryale ferox[Reference: WebLink]
To investigate the chemical constituents in the seeds of Euryale ferox Salisb for obtaining a more comprehensive understanding on its effective components.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
Compounds were separated by column chromatography with silica gel, Pharmadex LH-20 and reversed-phase silica gel. Their structures were elucidated by spectral analysis and chemical evidence. Seven compounds and a mixture of two compounds were obtained. Their structures were identified as: Cyclo(Pro-Ser) (1), Cyclo(Ile-Ala) (2), Cyclo(Leu-Ala) (3), 5,7,4′-trihydroxy-flavanone (4), 5,7,3′,4′,5′-pentahydroxy-flavanone (5), isolariciresinol-9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), α-tocopherol (7), β-tocopherol (8), δ-tocopherol (9).
    CONCLUSIONS:
Compound 1 was firstly isolated from natural sources; compounds 2-6 have been isolated from this plant for the first time.
