Modulation of P-glycoprotein activity by acridones and coumarins from Citrus sinensis.[Pubmed: 17236173 ]

    METHODS AND RESULTS:
Bioguided fractionation of the roots of Citrus sinensis (Rutaceae) led to the isolation and identification of five coumarins, namely, clausarin, suberosin, poncitrin, xanthyletin and Thamnosmonin, seven acridones, namely, acrimarine B, 2-methoxycitpressine I, citpressine I, buntanine, acrimarine E, honyumine and acrimarine C, and one terpenoid, namely, limonin.
    CONCLUSIONS:
Among these compounds, clausarin, 2-methoxycitpressine I and acrimarine E inhibited P-glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux in K562/R7 human leukemic cells over-expressing P-glycoprotein.

Study on the chemical constituents from ethyl acetate extract of Micromelum falcatum.[Pubmed: 24218965]
To study the chemical constituents from ethyl acetate extract of Micromelum falcatum.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
The constituents were separated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and HPLC. Their structures were elucidated by spectral analysis (NMR, MS). Ten compounds were isolated and identified as micropubescin (1), phebalosin (2), scopoletin (3), citrubuntin (4), Thamnosmonin (5), hopeyhopin (6), arnottinin (7), casegravol (8), 2-methoxy-5-hydroxy cinnamate (9), threo-syringoylglycerol (10).
    CONCLUSIONS:
Compounds 1 - 10 are obtained from this plant for the first time.
