Pikuroside: a novel iridoid from Picrorhiza kurroa.[Pubmed:
10395515]
METHODS AND RESULTS:
A new iridoid, pikuroside (1), was isolated from the roots of Picrorhiza kurroa, together with three known iridoids, picroside I (2), picroside II (3), and 6-Feruloylcatalpol (4). The structure of 1 was established by interpretation and full assignments of NMR spectral data.
CONCLUSIONS:
Pikuroside (1) had no antiinflammatory activity, although the crude extract and picroside II (3) demonstrated moderate activity.
