A new β-carboline alkaloid designated as chrysotricine was isolated from Hedyotischry sotricha. Its structure was elucidated by UV, IR, MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Chrysotricine exhibited inhibitory activity against the growth of HL-60 cell in vitro.

Leaves subsessile to petiolate; petiole 1-3 mm, moderately to densely pilosulous to hirtellous; blade drying thinly papery, lanceolate, lanceolate, elliptic.
