Antifeeding constituents of Phellodendron chinense fruit against Reticulitermes speratus.[Reference:
WebLink]
METHODS AND RESULTS:
Methanol and hexane extracts from the fruit of Phellodendron chinense which showed antifeedant activity against the rhinotermitid Reticulitermes speratus were isolated and identified as N-methylflindersine and melianone.
CONCLUSIONS:
N-methylflindersine showed significantly higher antifeedant activity and caused mortality more rapidly than melianone. Other compounds isolated from the fruit (niloticin, friedelin, Phellochin and 4,10-dimethylene-7-isopropyl-5(E)-cyclodecenol) showed no antifeedant activity.
