Inula racemosa Hook.f.

Inula racemosa is a species of an ornamental plant of the Asteraceae family. Inula racemosa grows in the temperate and alpine western Himalayas, and it is common in Kashmir. The roots are widely used locally in indigenous medicine as an expectorant and in veterinary medicine as a tonic.
Inula racemosa is Herbs, perennial. Rhizome tuberous. Stems 60-200 cm tall, grooved, densely pubescent. Leaves leathery; radical leaves elliptic-lanceolate, 20-50 × 10-20 cm, narrowed into petiole. Roots of the plant Inula racemosa are used as folk medicine in east Asia and Europe. Inula racemosa in combination with Commiphora mukul was reported to cure myocardial ischemia. However, systematic investigation of the plant for its specific role in heart diseases has not been conducted so far. In the present study, It is reported the isolation of four major constituents A, B, C and D along with some minor constituents from the plant Inula racemosa.
